Jessica Llamas

I believe that every person has inherent strengths and strives to grow and develop. The goal of therapy is to alleviate personal suffering and encourage change which is best achieved in a safe atmosphere of unconditional positive regard where a person feels respected and understood.  I am committed to helping individuals, families and children. My practice is based on promoting a genuine relationship of partnership between my clients and myself.  We will work toward individual self-empowerment and regaining control of your life.

I hold a special interest with working with adolescents, children and families. I believe children hold a magical interest in striving for solutions at all times. Their reality is intuitive, nameless and mysterious. With the help of teaching, coaching and exploring the necessary tools the child may need, the client’s goal will be achieved. Trusting in the natural process of childhood, I believe a child is able to explore their world spontaneously, expressively and intuitively in an unconditional atmosphere. Regardless of their struggles, they are resilient, creative and so eager to achieve.  To help children and teenagers through the often fragile experience of adolescence, I offer tools designed specifically for pre-adolescent and adolescent needs. Finally, I believe that the most important person in your child’s life is you. Parents remain involved, giving feedback and sharing how your child is doing at school and at home.

I offer individual and family therapy / counseling for families, children and adolescents presenting w problems & diagnoses including the following: Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Mood disorders, depression or anxiety disorders, eating disorders, school/academic issues, parent-child conflicts, behavior problems, and difficulty adjusting to change.

My practice supports the emotional well-being of all individuals - Adults and Children. I utilize many therapeutic techniques, providing mental health treatment for depression, grief, trauma, anxiety, anger, substance abuse, co-dependency and stress, resulting from divorce, single-parenting, sexual assault, domestic abuse, loss of a loved one, loss of a job, physical disabilities and many other life challenges or transitions.

My specialty in creative play & expressive therapy allows me to experience these processes with the clients.  My expertise in crisis intervention, trauma focused-cognitive behavioral therapies, behavioral modification and brief solution therapies allows me to consider my client’s needs and gifts. In addition, I am able to provide psycho-social need assessment reports and recommendations if requested. I also hold Certification in Clinical Supervision for graduate level clinicians seeking their Licensure.

During my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.  I enjoy traveling, drawing, painting and creating Art with my students and family.
